In the name of God Amen. I William Kennedy of Preston in the County of New London Cloath Being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it; and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discresion of my Executors hereafter named nothing doubting but that at the resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such wordly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of in the following manner and form
Imprimus. My will is that all my just debts and funeral charges shall be paid in convenient time after my decease by my sd Executors.
Item. I give and bequeath to my loving son David Kennedy twenty shillings money to be paid within one year after my decease, which is with what he hath before had of me the whole of his portion out of my estate
Item. I give and bequeath to my loving daughter Agnus Dixson five shillings money to be her upon her demand, and that with what she hath before had is the whole of her portion out of my estate, and all the remaining part of my real and personal estate be it more or less I give and bequeath unto my other living children namely to Hugh Kennedy, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Jennett Love in an equal proportion between them, but it is to be understood that my loving daughter Jennett's part of sd estate I give to her and her heirs so that my son in law Thomas Love is to have no part thereof. And I do constitute make and ordain my two loving sons namely Hugh Kennedy and John Kennedy my sole executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly dissallow revoke and dissannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies and bequests and executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed. Preston October the 9th 1727 then the named Thomas Kinne Isaac Cade and John Tweedy personally appeared and made oath that they saw the within named William Kennedy sign seal publish pronounce and declare the within written instrument to be his Last Will and Testament and that he was in perfect mind and memory to the best of their knowledge and that they together with the within named John Brown in the presents of the sd William Kennedy did sign as witnesses to sd instrument at the same time before me. Daniel Kennedy - Will 1791

In the name of God Amen The twenty sixth day of November AD 1791 - I Daniel Kennedy of Voluntown in the County of Windham & State of Connecticut, being weak of body but of a sound and disposing mind and memory; do make this my last will & testament, first and before all I reccommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it & my body to the earth to be buried in a decent mannar at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named; my worldy substance I give & bequeath in the following manner viz
Imprimus I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Lucretia the use & improvement of the whole of my real & personal estate untill my son John arrives at the age of twenty one years; and after he the sd John arrives at that age she is to have the use & improvement of the one third part of all my real & personal estate during her natural life; and also a debt of five pounds against Esqr Brewster
Item. I give unto my only son, John Kennedy all my real estate that I am possessed of in Voluntown together with the dwelling house the fulling (note: fulling is: The process of cleansing, shrinking, and thickening cloth by moisture, heat, and pressure.) mill & all tools & utensils thereunto belonging also the pot ash & kettles and all tools thereto belong with all my farming tools to him his heirs and assigns forever
Item. I give unto my eldest daughter Mary Partelo five pounds lwf to be paid her by my son John Kennedy in one year after he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years which with what she hath already had is the whole of her portion that I allow her out of my estate
Item. I give unto my second daughter Eunice Kegwin five pounds lawful money to be paid her by my son John in one year after he arrives at the age of twenty one years, which with what she hath already had is the whole of her portion that I allow her out of my estate.
Item. I give unto my third daughter Anna Kennedy one bed & furniture, and one cow with as much household furniture as will be equal to what one of her married sisters had formerly given them & her mother to be the person that shall judge of the quantity; and I also give her my newest desk which stands in the east room to be paid and delivered her out of my moveable estate in one year after my decease by my Executors hereafter named; and also five pounds lawfull money and half a score of sheep to be paid her by my son John when he arrives at the age of twenty four years.
Item. I give unto my fourth daughter Lucretia Harris five pounds to be paid her by my son John in two years after he arrives at the age of twenty on years which with what she hath already had is the whole of the portion I allow her out of my estate
Item. I give unto my fifth daughter Alice Kennedy one bed & furniture and one cow with as much household furniture as will be equal to what one of her married sisters had heretofore given them; her mother to be the person that shall judge of the quantity, to be paid and delivered her out of my moveable estate by my Executors hereafter named when she arrives at the age of twenty one years or on the day of her marrige if she is married before that time; and also the sum of five pounds lawfull mony & half a score of sheep to be paid her by my son John when he shall arrive to the age of twenty six years.
Item. I give unto my sixth & youngest daughter Elisabeth one bed & furniture & one cow with as much household furniture as one of her married sisters had heretofore given them, her mother to be the person that shall judge of the quantity to be paid and delivered her out of my moveable estate by my Executors hereafter named when she shall arrive at the age of twenty one years or if married before that time then to be paid on the day of her marriage; and also the sum of five pounds lawfl and a half a score of sheep to be paid her by my son John when he shall arrive at the age of thirty years
I also allow my three daughters Anna Alice & Elisabeth a right & priviledge to cut fire wood on the farm sufficient for them untill they shall marry or if they never marry then their priviledge to continue during their natural lives. Furthermore I give unto my son John Kennedy his heirs and assigns a small lot of land lying in Poquitanuck to enable him to pay legacies
And after my just debts & funeral charges are all paid which are to be paid out of my moveable estate my Executors hereafter named what of my estate remains undisposed of I give unto my son John Kennedy
And I do hereby nominate and appoint Asahel Partelo of Plainfield in sd County with my wife Lucretia and my son John Kennedy Executors to this my last will & testament hereby revoking & renouncing every other will or wills by me heretofore made, ratifying & confirming this to be my last Will & Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year above written. In the name of God Amen I John Kenedy of Voluntown in Windham County and Colony of Conecticutt in New England Do make & ordain this my Last Will & testament Calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die & after that the judgement I being weak of body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given to God therefor I dispose of such worldy goods and substance as has pleased God to bestow upon me but principally I recomend my soul to the hands of God that gave it & my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors Consequently I dispose of my wordly substance in manner & form as follows my just debts & funeral charges all to be paid out of my estate
Imprimus I will & bequeath to my well beloved wife Jennett Kennedy the one third part of all my personal estate forever: & one third part of all my real estate during her natural life time
Item - I will & bequeath unto my dutiful son John Kennedy a double portion with all ___ of his brethren & sisters of all my estate
Item - I will and bequeath to my dutiful sons Daniel Kennedy & Joseph Kennedy & my loving daughters Ann Kennedy Mary Kennedy & Elizabeth Kennedy all the rest of my real & personal estate to be equally divided amongst them -
I nominate & appoint my beloved wife Jennett aforesd & my loving brother Robert Kennedy to be my Exectrs of this my last will & testament revoking and disallowing all other wills. Windham ss Voluntown June the 8th day 1752 then the within named Bartolomew Arthur William Kennedy & Charles Campbell junr personally appeared and made solom oath that they saw the within named John Kennedy the testator sign seal pronounce & declare the within written to be his last will and testament and that according to the best of their judgement the testator was of perfect mind and memory at the same time & that they signed as witnesses at the same time in the presence of the testator. The last will and testament of Mr John kennedy late of Voluntown deceased was exhibited unto sd court by the Executors named in sd will (viz) Mrs. Jennett Kennedy & Mr. Robert Kennedy who excepted of that trust in sd Court which will is by sd Court proved approved allowed of and ordered to be recorded and kept on file. To all people to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Hugh Kenedy of Voluntown in the County of Windham in his Majesties Colony of Connecticut in New England husbandman for the condsideration of eighty pounds currant money to me already paid by John Kenedy late of Voluntown deceast do give and bargain sell & confirm unto John Kenedy Daniel Kenedy Anne Kenedy Mary Kenedy Joseph Kenedy Elisabeth Kenedy al of Voluntown aforesd and heirs of John Kenedy aforesd and to their heirs and assigns forever one certain tract of land that is to say my right of the seventh lot of the sixth tier of lots in the first division of land in the said Voluntown reference being had to the records of Voluntown for a description of the said bounds To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises unto them the sd John Kenedy Daniel Kenedy Anne Kenedy Mary Kenedy Joseph Kenedy and Elisabeth Kenedy their heirs and assigns for ever to them and their proper use and behoof and also I the said Hugh Kenedy do for myself my heirs covenant with the sd John Kenedy Daniel Kenedy Anne Kenedy Mary Kenedy Joseph Kenedy Elisabeth Kenedy theri heir and assigns at and until the insealing of these presents I am seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever. And further more I the sd Hugh Kenedy do by these presents bind myself and my heirs for ever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to them the sd John Kenedy Daniel Kenedy Ann Kenedy Mary Kenedy Joseph Kenedy Elisabeth Kenedy their heirs & assignes against all claims & demands of any claiming under me or my heirs or assigns.
