Mrs. Erma Relling of Haines Dies today, 2 Sons, Parents Survive
Mrs. Erma Hearing Relling of Haines died in St. Elizabeth's hospital this morning following a short illness.
Erma Hearing was born in Haines August 16, 1908 and lived in Haines all of her life. She is survived by two sons, Stanley and Jerry Relling; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Waltz; two brothers, Elmo and Glenn Hearing; a sister, Maryrose Waltz, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCullough, all of Haines.
Funeral services will be held in the Methodist Church in Haines at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon with Rev. Josie Blokland of Nyssa officiating. The body is at the West and Company parlors.

Elmo Hearing Lifetime Resident
Graveside services for Elmo LaVerne Hearing of 1610 Dewey Ave, a lifetime Baker and Baker County resident 62 years were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Reverend James Berentson of the First Lutheran Church officiated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Grays West and Co. Pioneer Chapel.
Mr. Hearing was born May 26, 1907 at Haines, Oregon the son of pioneer Oregon parents, Frank and Faitha McCullough Hearing. He had his early schooling in Haines and was a graduate of the Haines High School. For many years he was a rancher in Baker County at both Haines and North Powder. For the past several years he has been a salesman and driver for the Phillips Petroleum Co. here in Baker.
He passed away as a result of a truck accident eight miles west of Haines Monday afternoon.
He is survived by one brother, Glen Hearing of the Dalles, Ore.; one sister, Maryrose Winkler of Los Angles and several nieces and nephews including Jerry Waltz of Portland. Friends who wish may call at Grays West and Co. to sign the Memorial Books as the casket will not be opened at the Chapel nor the graveside.

RETIRED FARMER AT HAINES DIES OF MONOXIDE GAS
Body of Frank McCullough Found in Garage This Morning
COUNTY RESIDENT NEARLY 50 YEARS
Widow, 2 sSons, Daughter and 2 Brothers are Survivors
Frank McCullough, retired farmer, was killed by monoxide gas from an automobile in the garage at his home in Haines shortly before noon today. He is said to have been in the garage about 10 minutes when found by Fred Shanklin, who had been living at the McCullough home all winter. Shanklin heard the car running in the garage and opened the doors to find the farmer dead. It has not been determined what Mr. McCullough was doing in the garage. Mr. McCullough had been suffering from heart trouble for some time.
Mr. McCullough was born in Shelby County, Missouri, January 26, 1865. He crossed the plains in 1881 and located in Baker County, where he lived continuously until his death. Mr. McCullough, who owned several ranches in the county, lived on a farm in the Muddy Creek section. He moved to Haines 15 years ago. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Baker.
Mr. McCullough was married to Hester Ann Moore in Weiser October 18, 1886. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Faitha Waltz of Haines; two sons, Ancel McCullough of Haines and Elwood McCullough of Los Angeles; two brothers, harvey of Haines and Charles of Bridgeport, and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Cox of Haines, Mrs. Dora Fosnot of Salem and Mrs. Belle Newlen of Kansas.
The body will be at the West and company parlors until Saturday afternoon, when it will be taken to the family home. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
McCullough Funeral Date Set-
Funeral services for Frank McCullough, who was killed by monoxide gas in his garage at his home in Haines Friday will be held at the family residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Frank B. Gigliotti of the Presbyterian Church officiating. The services at the grave will be held under the auspices of the Moose Lodge. Interment will be in Haines.
HAINES FUNERAL WELL ATTENDED
People Come Many Miles for Rites of Frank McCullough Sunday
Haines Feb. 17 - A very large crowd attended the funeral of Frank McCullough which was held at the family residence Sunday afternoon with Rev. Frank B. Gigliotti of the Presbyterian Church of Baker officiating. The service at the grave was held under the auspices of the Moose Lodge of Baker. Interment was in the Haines Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCullough and sons Ralph and Rodney and daughter Marcella, motored over from Bridgeport to attend the funeral. Charles and Frank McCullough were brothers.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Whited of Unity were also here for the funeral as well as a great many people from North Powder River; Muddy Creek and Rock Creek. Mr. McCullough had lived in these communities fro a good many years and had a host of friends who grieve his untimely demise.

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN: I, Frank McCullough, of Baker County, Oregon, over the age of twenty-one years, and being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and not acting under duress, menace, fraud, or undue influence of any person whatsoever, do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in the manner following, that is to say:
FIRST, I direct that my body be decently buried, with proper regard to my station and condition in life and the circumstance of my estate.
SECOND; I direct that my executrix hereinafter named as soon as she has sufficient funds in her hands, pay my funeral expenses and the expenses of my last sickness and all of my just debts.
THIRD: I give and bequeath to my beloved children, Faitha Waltz, Ancel McCullough, and Elwood McCullough, the sum of One ($1.00) each.
FOURTH: I give and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of any and all property of evry name, nature and description whatsoever, real, personal, and mixed, and wheresoever situate, owned by me at the time of my death, to my beloved wife, Hester Ann McCullough; PROVIDED HOWEVER, that in the event of the death of my said beloved wife, prior to my death, I give, devise and bequeath all of the said rest, residue and remainder of my said estate to my said beloved children Faitha Waltz, Ancel McCullough and Elwood McCullough in equal parts, share and share alike.
FIFTH: I herein and hereby name, nominate and appoint my beloved wife, Hester Ann McCullough, the executrix of this, my last Will and Testament, and I do herein and hereby direct and declare that no bond or bonds shall be requried of her from any Courth and that she act and serve as such executrix without being required to give or furnish any bond or bonds; PROVIDED HOWEVER, that in the event of the death of my said beloved wife, prior to my death, I herein and hereby name, nominate and appoint my said beloved children, Faitha Waltz, Ancel McCullough and Elwood McCullough, the executors of this, my last Will and Testament, and I do herein and herby direct and declare that no bond or bonds shall be required of them from any Court and that they act and serve as such executors without being required to give or furnish any bond or bonds.
LASTLY, I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

KNOW ALL MEN, That I, Hester A. McCullough, of the County of Baker, in the State of Oregon, of the age of 71 years, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and not acting under duress, menace, fraud or undue influence of any person whomsoever, do make, publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, to-wit:
FIRST, it is my will, and I do order, that all my just debts and funeral expenses by duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be done after my decease.
SECOND, I give and bequeath unto my son ANCEL G. McCULLOUGH, and my daughter-in-law ETHEL L. McCULLOUGH, his wife, my ranch property located in Baker County, oregon, and being more particularly described as follows, to-wit:

Together with any and all waters, water rights, water priveleges, ditches and ditch rights thereunto beonging or in anywise appertaining, or used in connection therewith. Together with all and singular the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining.
And I do further give and bequeath unto my said son ANCEL G. McCULLOUGH and my daughter-in-law ETHEL L. McCULLOUGH, his wife, all livestock and farm machinery and equipment owned by me at the time of my death.
THIRD. I give and bequeath unto my daughter FAITHA M. WALTZ and my son ELWOOD E. McCULLOUGH, share and share alike, my residence property located in Haines, in Baker County, Oregon, and being more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
All of Lots Four (4), Five (5) and Six (6), in Block "W" in Haines Townsite, Baker County, Oregon. Together with all and singular the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining.
And I do further give and bequeath unto my daughter FAITHA M. WALTZ and my son ELWOOD E McCULLOUGH my automobile.
FOURTH. I give and bequeath unto my daughter FAITHA M. WALTZ, and my sons ANCEL G. McCULLOUGH and ELWOOD E. McCULLOUGH, all of my household goods and furniture in my dwelling located at Haines, Oregon, together with all of the rest, residue and remainder of any and all property of every name, nature and description whatsoever, real, personal and mixed, and wheresoever situate owned by me at the time of my death, in equal parts, share and share alike.
FIFTH. In the event of the death of my said daughter FAITHA M. WALTZ prior to my death, I do further direct that her share in my said estate be divided equally between my grandchildren ELMO HEARING, GLEN HEARING, MARY ROSE WALTZ and JERRY WALTZ, who are the children of my said daughter FAITHA M. WALTZ.
AND LASTLY, I nominate, comstitute and appoint my son ANCEL G. McCULLOUGH and my daughter FAITHA M. WALTZ to be the Executor and Executrix of this, my Last Will, hereby revoking all other Wills, Legacies and Bequests by me heretofore made, and declaring this, and no other, to be my Last Will and Testament, said Executor and Executrix to act and serve as such Executor and Executrix without being required to give or furnish any bond or bonds.

C. McCULLOUGH OF BRIDGEPORT DIES
Widow, 2 Daughters and 2 Sons Survive Burnt River Stockman
Charles McCullough, Bridgeport cattleman died at his ranch home at 10 p.m. Thursday. He had been in poor health for a year.
Mr. McCullough was born in Kansas April 11, 1879. he came to Baker County when he was a small boy and lived in this county the remainder of his life. Mr. McCullough engaged in the cattle business at Haines for many years before moving to Bridgeport three years ago. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Whited October 31, 1901 in Baker.
The deceased is survived by his widow; two daughters, Misses Marcella and Christine McCullough; two sons, Ralph and Rodney, all of Bridgeport; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Cox of Haines and Mrs. Dora Fosnot of Salem, and a breother, Harvey of Haines.
Funeral Services have not been arranged. The body is at the West and Company chapel.

HAINES PEOPLE MOURN 2 DEATHS
Ed. Evans, Charles McCullough Passings Sadden
Special to the Democrat Herald -
Mrs. Charles Rohner and four children of Wingville visited Monday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cox. Bonnie, who was kicked in the face by a horse recently is getting along nicely. She lost three teeth besides being badly bruised.
The death of Charles McCulough of Bridgeport Thursday night came as sad news to the Haines people. Mr. McCullough was a former Haines resident, having lived in the community for several years.
Mr. and Mrs. Harve McCollough, Mrs. Charles Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Waltz and Mrs. Hester Ann McCollough were called to Baker friday by the death of Charles McCollough, who was a brother of Harve and Mrs. Cox.

Haines Pioneer Passes Friday
Haines - Mrs. Emma Catherine Cox, 75, a resident of the Haines community most of her life, died Friday at a Baker hospital.
She was born November 10, 1872, in Kansas and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her widower, Charles of Haines; two daughters, Mrs. Tressie Williams of Haines, and Mrs. Charles Rohner of Wingville; four brothers, Harvey and Clyde of Baker and Millard and Curtis of Portland; one sister, Ida Ritter of red Bluff, Calif., 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cox was an early pioneer of this community.
Rosary was recited Sunday evening with services Monday morning at 10:30 from St. Francis cathedral. Interment was in Haines cemetery, the pallbearers being Arlo Horn, Charles Young, Frank Anderson, Roy Stewart and Frank Long.
Mrs. Cox had not been well for about two years, and suffred a stroke early last winter. She was removed to the hospital about two weeks ago.
Mrs. Ida Ritter was unable to attend the funeral here because of her advanced age.

H.E. McCULLOUGH
Harvey Ellsworth McCullough, 84, retired farmer and long time resident of Haines, died July 10 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, in the West chapel, Rev. Arthur Kent officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. McCullough was born December 27, 1861, in Missouri, came west at an early age to Eastern Oregon.
He married Miss Mandy Shubert (note: this is incorrect, Amanda Shubert was his mother), now deceased. Four sons, Balium Edward, deceased, Calvin E., Ira E., and G. Cleveland, and a daughter, Maybell, were born to them. Later he married Ella Eva Simon and they were parents of a daughter, Irene Neve.
Surviving are his widow, Ella Eva; three sons, Calvin of North Powder, Ira of Lakeview, and G. Cleveland of Haines; two daughters, Mrs. Maybell Cook of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Irene Toney of Portland; a step-daughter, Mrs. Eda Ritter of Sacramento (note: incorrect - Ida Belle Ritter was his half sister); 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That I, GROVER CLEVELAND McCULLOUGH, of Baker County, Oregon, over the age of twenty-one years, being of sound mind and memory, and acting freely and voluntarily, and of my own will and volition and not as the result of anu coercion, intimidation or undue or improper influence, do hereby make, publish and declare this as and to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former testamentary dispositions by me made.
ONE: I do declare that I am married, and that my wife is Nannie Pearl McCullough, and that I have five children, to-wit, a son Alfred McCullough of Haines, Oregon, a son Norman McCullough of Haines, Oregon, a daughter Agnes Tarvin of Huntington, Oregon, a son, Lloyd McCullough of Haines, Oregon, all over the age of twenty-one years, and a daughter, Wilma McCullough of Haines, Oregon, of the age of approximately eighteen years.
TWO: I do give and bequeath unto my said wife nannie Pearl McCullough, all livestock, household goods and personal effects, cash on hand or in banks, and my Chrysler passenger automobile, to be hers absolutely. I do likewise give and bequeath unto my said wife all of my right, title and interest in and to that certain written promissory note in the principal sum of $10,000 running from my said son Alfred McCullough, with the mortgage securing the same, together with all interest due or to become due and payable thereunder, provided, however, that upon the death of my said wife, any un[aid balance of principal or interest thereon shall be deemed as automatically forgiven and cancelled, said mortgage thereupon to automatically revert to and constitute the property of the said Alfred McCullough, who may thereupon secure the satisfaction thereof on the County record by the administrator or executor of the estate of my said wife, it being the intention to hereby provide, with respect to said naote and mortgage, that the same shall remain in full force and effect and shall constitute a valid obligation against my said son Alfred McCullough, only so long as my said wife shall live, and shall be deemed as a bequest to my said son Alfred McCullough to mature upon the death of my said wife, providing he, the said Alfred McCullough keeps the interest on said obligation currently paid to the date of the death of my wife.
THREE: I do give and bequeath unto my said son, Lloyd McCullough, all of my farm machinery, equipment and tools, together with the farm truck which I now own, to be his absolutely.
FOUR: I do give and bequeath unto my said son, Lloyd McCullough, that certain tract or parcel of land in Section 22, Township 7 South, Range 38 east, W.M. embracing approximately 250 acres, and known as the home place, subject, however, to a life estate in my said wife, to all of the net proceeds and returns from the use, operation and enjoyment of said tract of land.
FIVE: I do give and devise unto my said daughter, Agnes Tarvin, a parcel of land embracing approximately 80 acres and described as the north half of the northwest quarter of Section 34, Township 7 South, RAnge 38 east, W.M., but subject, however, to a life estate in my said wife, to all of the net proceeds and returns from the use, operation and enjoyment of said tract of land.
SIX: I do give and bequeath unto my said daughter Wilma McCullough that certain parcel of land embracing approximately 80 acres and described as the south half of the southeast quarter of Section 6, Township 8 South, Range 39 east, W.M., but subject, however, to a life estate in my said wife, to all of the net proceeds and returns from the use, operation and enjoyment of said tract of land.
SEVEN: I do give and devise unto my said son Norman McCullough, that certain parcel of land embracing approximately 40 acres and described as the southwest quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 31, Township 7 South, Range 39 east. W.M. but subject, however, to a life estate in my said wife, to all of the net proceeds and returns from the use, operation and enjoyment of said tract of land.
EIGHT: I do direct that upon my death or as sonn therefter as, in the sound judgement of my executor hereinafter named, the transaction may be accomplished to the best advantage of my estate, the southwest quarter of Section 8, the northeast quarter, the west half of the southeast quarter, and the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 19; the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter, the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter and the south half of the southwest quarter of Section 20; the northwest quarter, the west half of the southwest quarter, and the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 29; the northeast quarter of the northeast quarter, and the south half of the southeast quarter of Section 30; the northeast quarter of the northwest quarter, the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter, and the south half of the northeast quarter of Section 31, all in Township 7 South, Range 38 east, W.M. be sold and converted into cash on the best price and terms obtainable, that the proceeds from such sale be employed in the payment of inheritance taxes, proveable claims against my estate, and the costs and expenses of administration thereof, and that the balance of such proceeds be deemed and treated as a portion of the reidue and remainder of my said estate, all of which residue and remainder of every kind and character whatsoever, not herein above specifically devised or bequeathed, I do give, devise and bvequeath in equal parts, share and share alike to my said wife, and to each of my children.
NINE: I do nominate, constitute and appoint as executor of this, my last will and testament, Carl Davis, of Baker, Oregon and do request that in said capacity he furnish at the expense of my estate, such bond as the circumstances and the law may require.
