He was found by his housekeeper in his chair, in front of the televison set; with the television still on. He had died during the night. He was the community's oldest practicing physician.
Dr. Rambo was the 13th and youngest child of George W. and Jane Rambo,

the first brick house in Van Buren county. He attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Keokuk, and later did post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins University. Alice Frances Kolar - Obituary
Alice Frances Kolar was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 11, 1907, to Frances Elizabeth Ulrich and William Kolar. She was the second youngest child of six children. The family moved to a farm located near Eagle Lake, Iowa, when Alice was 9 years old. Alice was a hard working farm girl who, despite her small size, milked the cows and helped harvest the crops. She graduated first in her class fram Hayfield High School in 1925 and was offered scholarships to many colleges in Iowa, including Drake University. She attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City, as her father would not let her attend college away from home. Because of her work ethic, Alice soon obtained a temporary position as the executive secretary to the president of the First National Bank of Mason City. Alice was the first member of the Czechoslovakian community around Hayfield to obtain employment outside of the community. She drew much business to First National Bank from the Czech community, who previously had not trusted any banks with their money. Once she was there, they would all "go see Alice", and she would arrange for them to open accounts at the bank. Alice entertained family and friends for years with her first hand account of the John Dillinger gang's robbery of First National Bank (she hid in the vault).
In the early 1930's, Alice met a tall, thin packing plant worker by the name of Edgar E. Walker at an Epworth League meeting at the Mason City Methodist Church. Edgar went on to attend Cornell University in Mount Vernon. Following his graduation, Alice and he were married on September 13, 1936. Edgar and Alice then moved to New York City where he attended Union Theological Seminary. Alice supported them both, working on Wall Street as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Robert Fulton Cutting Estate in Chase Manhatten Bank and managing accounts totaling $75 million.
In 1939, Alice and Edgar returned to Iowa, where they began their ministry, serving churches in Plainfield, Garrison, Anamosa, Vinton, Indianola and Des Moines. While Edgar was an associate pastor at Grace Methodist Church, Alice worked as the executive secretary to the director of the Iowa Dental Association. In 1965, Edgar joined the Board of Global Ministries of the Methodist Church. Together Edgar and Alice traveled thousands of miles across the United States and raised millions of dollars for the church. Desptie her many responsibilities, Alice found time to be a mother, a dear friend, and a confidante of her four children, Jeanne, Ralph, Joan and Brian. She also pursued her interest as a writer, though her modesty kept her from being published more than two or three times.
Edgar preceded Alice in death on January 9, 1982. Life was very difficult for Alice after that, as she and Edgar had lived their lives and done everything as one. Her health began to fail her in the last few years. A stroke oncapacitated her a year ago but never took away her caring attitude toward other, or her sense of humor. As she struggled with a number of medical problems, her death came peacefully with family members at her side Monday eevening, August 2nd. Alice never ran across a person she wasn't able to befriend, regardless of their station in life.
She is survived by her sister Lillian of Bryan, Ohio, and her four children, Jeanne Ansley of Stoughton, MA, Ralph Walker of Norwalk, Joan Walker of Los Angeles, CA, Brian Walker of Tucson, AZ, and her three grandchildren, Jens, Damon, and Trevor Walker.
